VI INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION “GIANNINO ZECCA”

 

With the collaboration and patronage of the City of Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi, Department of Culture, the Choral Association ” Antonio Vivaldi ” announces the VI International Competition for Opera Singers “Giannino Zecca”.

 

The competition is intended to award prices and the identification of new solo voices to perform in the opera and concert season 2014/2015 of the Choral Association “Antonio Vivaldi” .

 

Regulation

Item 1

Italian and foreign opera singers, both sexes, no age limits, being 18 years old by the date of the competition can participate in the auditions.

Item 2

The application, written and signed in the application form, must be submitted no later than May 24, 2014 to the e -mail info@coralevivaldi.it. In the application form the applicant must specify, in addition to their own data (name, surname, date and place of birth, address, telephone number), the register of voice, the author and title of the pieces chosen.

In the application, the applicant must specify four pieces from international opera in the original language and tone . Where provided , the piece must be performed completed of recitative and cabaletta .

The application will be considered valid only if accompanied by the following documents:

  • Identity Card in photocopy or equivalent document (passport for the foreign candidates).
  • Receipt of €40 (euro forty/00) bank transfer paid at Intesa San Paolo Bank Account in the name of CHORAL ANTONIO VIVALDI IBAN IT67L0306956221100000004161
  • Detailed artistic curriculum.
  • Photograph.

The above documentation must be submitted to the secretariat staff exclusively in computer formats corresponding to the following extensions: pdf, doc, docx, rtf, jpg.

The admission fee will not be refunded in case of renouncing.

Item 3

The competition will take place at the SOMS Theatre in Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi , viale Italia, 14 with the following schedule:

  • 28-29-30 May 2014 preliminary rehearsals from 11:00 to 19:00.
  • May 31, 2014 – final rehearsal open to the public from 21:00.

The date and time of the preliminary round will be communicated by the Secretary of the Association by e-mail no later than May 26, 2014. The candidates must present themselves at the secretarial staff on the called date, half an hour before the fixed time, in order to control the admission requisites or in case to complete the documents.

The public is not admitted to the auditions.

No refund for the costs of travel and accommodation will be paid by the organization.

Item 4

The competition is divided into two phases:

  • PRELIMINARY ROUND

The preliminary rounds will be held in the manner specified in Art. 3. Candidates must perform one or two pieces on the discretion of the Commission, to be chosen from those presented. Will be admitted to the final rehearsal the candidates obtaining the qualification. The result of the rehearsal will be communicated at the end of all auditions. The list of the finalists will also be issued on the official website of the Association.

  • FINAL

The final rehearsal will be held on 31 May 2014. Candidates must perform , at the option of the Commission, one or more pieces from those presented. In both rehearsals, the Commission reserves the right to listen to the program presented in whole or in part and will also have the faculty to interrupt the candidate to their discretion.

The decisions of the committee are definitive and irrevocable.

Item 5

The Candidates can make use of the collaboration of the accompanist pianist freely placed at their disposal, otherwise they can run with their own pianist at their own expense.

Item 6

The judging Committee will be formed of personalities qualified in the music theatre.

  • President of the Committee : Gian Marco Moncalieri, Artistic Director of the Choral “Antonio Vivaldi” and the “Cherubino Opera Live” in Rome.
  • Matteo Carminati , “Pianist and Artistic Director of Ad Alta Voce in Paris”.
  • Rachel O’Brien, Mezzo-soprano, Artistic Director of “Equivoci Musicali”
  • Marcello Pennuto , Conductor of the “European Philharmonic Orchestra”
  • Silvia Zanardi, Soprano, Head of the Artistic Agency “Opera Image ” .

The decision of the committee is definitive.

Item 7

The winners will be awarded the following prizes:

  • First Prize : 1.200,00 Euro
  • Second Prize : 600,00 Euro
  • Third Prize : 300,00 Euro
  • Audience Award : 200,00 Euro

Prizes will be paid in full on the evening of June 2, 2014, during a concert as award ceremony to be held in Sannazzaro de’Burgondi. Participation in this concert is considered integral, essential and absolute part of the prize.

Item 8

In case of radio/television use of the performances of the candidates, no fee or right will be paid. During the auditions, audio/video recording will be carried out; the candidates will be asked to sign the relevant ‘liberatoria’. The final exam will be open to the public; on the occasion of the evening performance funds assigned for charity will be raised. The finalists will therefore have an obligation to dress appropriately.

Item 9

Signing the application form, the candidates are obliged to accept all the rules included in this announcement of competition.
